Empty satisfaction—a social phenomenology of late modern enjoyment

Abstract Phenomenological analyses of enjoyment are relatively rare; also, the few known attempts (e.g. Levinas) elaborated in a transcendental fashion, without reflecting on socio-historical constituents. The article aims at filling this gap by elaborating social phenomenology late modern enjoyment. Firstly, experience is analysed with help general phenomenological descriptions: visceral, existential and ethical constituents mapped. second section explores structural transformations affecting these constituents, based various critical theories modernization: impact reified control over visceral; disintegration; persistent inequalities; over-burdening intimacy analysed.
